Our Areas Of Concern

Hunger Relief

Hunger relief is the backbone of Pledge A Smile’s on-ground work—because food security is the first condition for dignity, stability, and everything that follows. Through Project SEWA, we mobilise resources to identify vulnerable families, procure essential food grains, and deliver them through structured, last-mile distributions in the communities that need it most. What began as emergency COVID relief has continued as a sustained program: over the years, we have scaled our cumulative hunger-relief support to 45+ tonnes of food grains, ensuring that support reaches households where daily-wage uncertainty can otherwise translate into missed meals.

Seasonal relief

Seasonal relief is our way of protecting dignity when weather turns into risk. Through Project Raahat, Pledge A Smile mobilises winter essentials—blankets, jackets, socks, caps, and other cold-weather supplies—and delivers them through planned, last-mile distributions to families and individuals who are most vulnerable to Delhi-NCR’s harsh winter months. What began as urgent support during the pandemic has continued as a recurring intervention, and over the years we have scaled our cumulative winter-relief outreach to 8,000+ winter essentials, helping people stay warm, reduce illness risk, and get through the season with greater safety and comfort.

Education

Education is where Pledge A Smile focuses on breaking the cycle of disadvantage—by removing the practical barriers that keep children out of classrooms and limit learning outcomes even when they attend. Through Project Muskaan, we began with simple stationery support, but quickly realised the real constraint was affordability: exam fees, uniforms, shoes, winter essentials, and basic learning materials often decide whether a child continues schooling. Over time, Muskaan evolved into a longer-term “adoption” model—today we support 200+ children (219 beneficiaries) across five STC centres and two orphanages, working closely with educators and institutions to map needs and deliver consistent, dignified support that improves attendance, confidence, and continuity in learning.

Child Welfare

Child welfare at Pledge A Smile is about making sure a child feels safe, supported, and able to grow—at home, in school, and in their community. We work closely with grassroots centres and institutions to understand what children actually need beyond donations: stable routines, learning support, seasonal protection, and caring adult networks. Our interventions combine essentials (learning materials, clothing, hygiene, nutrition support) with follow-through—so help doesn’t arrive once and disappear, but stays long enough to create continuity. The goal is simple: reduce vulnerability, strengthen confidence, and give children the consistency they need to thrive.
